Marine/Heavy Construction Estimator

Established marine/heavy/civil contractor based in Boston area seeks experienced estimator to prepare hard bids, negotiated bids and proposals for large scale public and private projects in broad geographic area. Applicants must have 5+ years of experience in heavy, civil or marine construction and familiarity in computer based estimating systems; no residential professionals please.

Responsibilities/Capabilities include:
•    Read & analyze construction drawings, specifications, and other related construction documents to fully comprehend project scope, schedule, risks, etc.
•    Perform detailed quantity takeoffs & develop bidding spreadsheets
•    Attend pre-bid conferences, perform site visits to verify conditions and deliver bids
•    Identify and develop relationships with qualified manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors and solicit quotes/pricing from them
•    Ability to take direction (from chief estimator and management) and work simultaneously on multiple projects
•    Take on other assignments as required
Desired individual should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, work well with others and be able to meet deadlines in a demanding fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements:
•    5+ years of  relevant experience, preferably in estimating, in heavy/civil and/or marine/dredging projects
•    BS in engineering , construction management or marine discipline
•    computer literate with good knowledge of Word, Excel and computer based estimating systems; knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid a plus

•    commensurate with experience (applicants must include salary history)
