Whether it’s in executing the prep work for complex infrastructure projects, keeping shipping channels open or providing new or restored berths in busy harbors, Jay Cashman, Inc.’s full-spectrum expert dredging services have played a major role in the successful completion of notable projects up and down the East Coast. JCI teams routinely work in demanding environments, delivering complex, challenging projects on time and within budget.
Whatever the scope of the project, JCI possesses the manpower, state-of-the-art equipment, knowledge and commitment to safety necessary to efficiently and cost-effectively handle dredging projects of all sizes. Our expansive dredging portfolio includes varied projects as complex as dredging the intake channel of a fully-operational nuclear power plant, as simple as deepening shipping berths and as expansive as clearing international shipping lanes for the Army Corps of Engineers. Our team analyzes each client’s individual needs to determine the best approach to provide a completed dredging project that exceeds expectations.
Key to the success of Cashman’s dredging work is our fleet of state-of-the-art equipment. This formidable fleet of dredges, scows, barges and tugs, owned and operated by Sterling Equipment, a Jay Cashman, Inc. subsidiary, is the largest fleet of marine support equipment on the East Coast. And, each piece of high quality equipment is the most technologically advanced available. Take our excavators and clamshell dredges for example, because they use precision GPS and IHC fully-integrated systems, you can count on them for even the most exact and complicated dredging work. In addition, having so many barges, dumps, excavators and tugs allows Cashman the flexibility to work in shallow or deep water, near or off-shore, in rivers or lakes…in virtually any situation.
Dredging and earthmoving are labor and time intensive projects requiring heavy equipment, hard work and often a 24-hour a day/seven day a week schedule. Yet, the details are still important and timing is crucial. Proper loading and hauling schedules are essential. An error of even 15 or 20 minutes could mean missing a tide, or even the loss of a significant amount of precious work time. At JCI, we understand the importance of precise timing and proficient scheduling – our emptied scows and barges are consistently back on the job the next morning, ready for another day’s work.
Cashman crews have moved millions of cubic yards of dredge material, sand glacial till, clays and suboceanic rock. In support of our excavation work we have between 3,500 and 4,000 cubic yards of dump barges and remote controlled split hull dumpers for offshore disposal. And, we’re experienced with innovative ways to process contaminated materials with environmentally safe practices. For example, we’re pioneering an onshore material processing plant for contaminated dredge spoils.
