"To remediate this creosote and arsenic contaminated site we divided the area into 18-foot by 18-foot cells and performed soil mixing to depths up to 12 feet."

--John Malm, Project Superintendent

The key challenge was to remediate the site with groundwater only a few feet from grade and maintain a stable sub-grade.

Project Highlights

Beazer Site Remediation
Port Newark, New Jersey

Cleared the six acre site of building debris and steel and disposed of at off-site landfills.

• Stripped the upper two to five feet of soil and stockpiled for treatment.

• Material was placed in a pug-mill and mixed with batched cement and placed back in the “cells” in 1 to 2 foot layers.

• Treated areas greater than five feet were in-situ soil mixed using cement slurry.

• The remediated site was finally capped with heavy duty pavement for container storage use for loads up to 500 psf.
