  Construction was completed in the midst of a rail station facility and a network of highway ramps.
  Project Highlights

MBTA South Station Ramp Project
Boston, Massachusetts

•Constructed in coordination with Central Artery/Tunnel
Project including South Bay Interchange and Mass Turnpike
access in the South Bay area.

• Support system consists of cast-in-place concrete columns
founded on precast concrete piles and slurry caissons
bearing on rock.

• Foundation caps were constructed 45 feet below grade
inside braced cofferdams.

•Foundations support a composite structural steel tub girder and concrete deck.

•Ramp structure spans three below-grade tunnel approach ramps and 11 South Station railroad tracks.
