• This was a design build foundation project for a new gas fired power plant. Cashman’s design and construction approach was based on our experience in driving foundation piles in difficult glacial soils. The scope of work included:
• Driving over 3,000 - 14” diameter concrete filled pipe piles totaling over 310,000 VLF.
• Execution of an extensive test pile program, involving compression, tension, lateral and dynamic pile testing to verify the design approach.
• Meeting a demanding 3.5 month fast track schedule including pile procurement, testing and punch list.
• Challenging pile-driving environment due to presence of urban fill soils with obstructions and underlying dense sand stratums.
• Achieved performance specifications and final foundation design resulted in a cost savings of nearly 20% to Owner versus budget.
