Safety First
JCI is committed to a Safety First/Zero Accidents philosophy. To promote this philosophy, the company has developed a multifaceted safety program dedicated to the safety of our employees and all who come in contact with our jobsites.
With overall jobsite safety as our guiding principle, Cashman has established the following goals:
- To always make safety a top priority during any operation
- To immediately report and/or correct any unsafe situation
- To investigate all accidents and injuries to determine root cause and preventative measures
JCI uses Job Hazard Analysis to plan work, recognize hazards and develop ways to reduce the risks of accidents. Furthermore, safety and health issues are addressed on site by continuous evaluation of our work methods, equipment, and work areas. The Safety Observer Program is used to identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions, and recognize the beginning of trends. In addition, all meetings in our offices or on the jobsites begin with a safety moment.
Jay Cashman supervisors are certified with a minimum 30-hours of OSHA Construction safety training, and all people working on a jobsite will soon be required to be 10-hour OSHA certified. JCI implements Safety Awareness Programs for continuous training and development of good safety practices. Also, Cashman recognizes people and projects that demonstrate excellence in safety performance.
The company’s Safety Manual provides employees with written policies and descriptions explaining systematic methods and procedures pertaining to safety. The manual also clearly outlines responsibilities for reducing the risk of personal injury, death and/or property damage. The manual is expected to guide the conduct of all employees in order to promote uninterrupted production and employment, while protecting health and property.
To provide a safe environment for all Cashman employees and meet our responsibilities to public and private sector clients, Jay Cashman, Inc. is committed to a drug-free workplace. The Company, as a government contractor, complies with the provisions of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
The provisions of JCI’s comprehensive safety program are based upon the requirements set forth by local, state, and federal regulations, as well as standard industrial practices. The elements of this program are intended to increase the level of employees’ awareness concerning potential workplace hazards and encourage safe work practices. These elements are implemented uniformly and no safety violations are tolerated.
