Marine and Island Operations Personnel

Summer 2024

Prominent East Coast Dredging and Marine Contractor, Jay Cashman, offers a unique opportunity to work for the 2024 summer season as part of the Marine and Island Operations Team on a private island off of the coast of Chatham, Massachusetts. This role is an ideal opportunity for hardworking up-and-comers looking to gain valuable experience and has proven to be a successful segue into career pathway with Jay Cashman Inc., Cashman Dredging and Marine Contracting Company, Patriot Renewables, and other Cashman affiliated companies.

The Marine and Island Operations Team will be responsible for safely operating, navigating, and docking the island barge, skiffs, and recreational boats, traveling between the island and Chatham Harbor. This role requires transporting cargo, equipment, and livestock to and from the island. As part of the Marine and Island Operations Team, you will provide water transportation for the island residents and guests.  General laborer skills are required for the position to assist with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of boats, docks, and island operations. 

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:

    • General boat handling skills are required
    • Experience operating power tools and equipment 
    • Ability to lift heavy objects
    • Hardworking and reliable
    • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
    • Positive can-do attitude
    • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
    • Experience in sport fishing and/or clamming, a plus
    • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record, a must
    • Employment is conditional on successfully passing drug and alcohol testing
