Land Surveyor

We are looking for a Project Land Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience as a Land Surveyor (Professional Land Surveyor License not required). This position will provide onsite land surveying engineering and technical support for multi-disciplined projects, including heavy civil, marine, and renewable energy. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, diverse organization. This position will be primarily based in Quincy and Southeastern Massachusetts but may require travel. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical traverse computations and site surveys using a variety of equipment and tools to produce topographic maps
  • Prepare sketches and notes, and perform electronic data collection
  • Coordinate field staff and process field data
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites 
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans, and site designs
  • Liaise with Project Management teams; verify design specifications to address inconsistencies and errors
  • Maintain an understanding of the contract specifications, documents and scope of work
  • Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing corrective action

Education and Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related technical degree, or equivalent field experience may be considered 
  • 3 years of Land Surveying, AutoCAD design/drafting or related industry experience
  • Ability to effectively operate the total station and similar land surveying equipment
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and similar survey programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and/or Construction Cost Estimating desired
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret project documents (plans, specifications, RFP, RFI, BOD, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work
  • Capable of reading and comprehending boundary and topographic maps
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding and at times inclement conditions for extended periods of time
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test 
  • Must have a valid driver's license and documented good driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel, as needed
