Kuwait University Thermal Energy Storage Tank

Kuwait University embarked on one of the most ambitious campus development projects in the world. The massive “University City” was designed and built from the ground up and was built over four years in a series of phases as part of a multibillion-dollar development initiative. Much emphasis was placed on sustainability and “green” building design. The Master Plan proposed to utilize solar power, water recycling and re-use, and thermal energy storage (TES) as a part of an energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solution.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • As a part of the University City project, Preload Middle East was contracted to provide two (2) 2.4 MG Thermal Energy Storage tanks that will serve the University as a part of two Central Utility Plants (CUP).
  • The CUP’s provide energy-efficient cooling for the 6-million square meter campus.
